Nigeria recorded an emphatic 4–0 victory over Benin on Tuesday evening at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, boosting their hopes of qualifying for the 2026 Fifa World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

Allnigeriasoccer.com rates the performances of the Super Eagles players in the dominant win over the Cheetahs of Benin.

The starters

Goalkeeper

Stanley Nwabali – 7/10: The Chippa United goalkeeper showed great composure and confidence, bouncing back strongly after criticism for his display against Lesotho.

Defenders

Semi Ajayi – 8/10: Delivered a solid defensive performance, winning key duels both aerially and on the ground.

Calvin Bassey – 8/10: The Fulham defender was rock-solid at the back, commanding in the air and keeping Benin's forwards at bay throughout.

Benjamin Fredrick – 7/10: A composed and mature showing from the young defender, who won nearly every one-on-one duel and exuded calmness under pressure.

Zaidu Sanusi – 7.5/10: Energetic down the left flank, combining defensive solidity with attacking intent before being withdrawn due to injury.

Midfielders and Forwards

Wilfred Ndidi – 8/10: The Besiktas midfielder was tireless in the centre of the park, breaking up play efficiently and dictating the tempo.

Alex Iwobi – 8/10: The Fulham playmaker pulled the strings in midfield, linking defence and attack seamlessly with his intelligent movement and passing.

Samuel Chukwueze – 8.5/10: Electric in the first half, providing two assists for Osimhen’s brace before being replaced at halftime.

Moses Simon – 8/10: Worked tirelessly on the flank, delivering two assists in the second half and maintaining a constant attacking threat.

Victor Osimhen – 10/10: A masterful performance from the Galatasaray striker-clinical, relentless, and unplayable. His stunning hat-trick, which included two expertly taken headers, powered Nigeria to a commanding and statement victory.

Akor Adams – 5.5/10: The Sevilla forward couldn’t replicate his heroics against Lesotho, struggling to make a major impact before being substituted.

The substitutes

Olakunle Olusegun – 5/10: Replaced Chukwueze and put in a hardworking shift defensively, though he missed a late opportunity to get on the scoresheet.

Frank Onyeka – 7/10: Showed composure to score Nigeria’s fourth goal with a neat finish inside the box, sealing a convincing win.

Bruno Onyemaechi – 6/10: Came on for Sanusi and delivered a steady defensive display to help preserve the clean sheet.

Tolu Arokodare – 5/10: Introduced in the 81st minute and had limited time to make an impact. Worked hard to press the Benin defenders but saw little of the ball.

Terem Moffi – N/A: Introduced late and had little time to influence proceedings.
