Toronto FC Rising Star Akinola Making Remarkable Progress In USA U17s
Published: May 18, 2016
United States U17 international Ayomide Akinola is showcasing his skills at the ongoing 2016 AIFF Youth Cup in Goa, India.
The Toronto FC Academy striker, who has Nigerian roots, registered his name on the score sheet in the United States first game of the tournament against Tanzania at the start of this week, scoring after three minutes when he tapped in from close range.
Wearing the number seven jersey, Akinola was one of the eight players that started and completed the match for the Americans; a strong suggestion that the manager was delighted with his contribution.
Last month, the teenager bagged a brace as the USA U17s beat Canada 3-1 in an international friendly staged at Lockhart Stadium; Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
The USA Under-17 Men’s National Team will take on the host India in its next match on May 19.
