Published: May 03, 2024
Victor Boniface has been named in the German Bundesliga Team of the Season dominated by Bayer Leverkusen players.
The Nigeria international adapted like a duck to water in Germany following his move from Belgian outfit Union Saint-Gilloise, playing an influential role as Bayer Leverkusen won the title for the first time in their history..
Despite missing eleven matches due to an injury he suffered during Nigeria's pre-Africa Cup of Nations training camp in the United Arab Emirates, he is Bayer Leverkusen's joint top scorer in the Bundesliga.
Boniface has mustered eleven goals from twenty appearances in the division and has nine assists to his name.
The Team of the Season contained six Bayer Leverkusen players namely Jeremie Frimpong, Jonathan Tah, Alejandro Grimaldo, Granit Xhaka, Florian Wirtz and Boniface.
Tottenham Hotspur and England legend Harry Kane, and onetime Nigeria Football Federation target Jamal Musiala are the Bayern Munich representatives.
Waldemar Anton (VfB Stuttgart), Serhou Guirassy (VfB Stuttgart) and Gregor Kobel (Borussia Dortmund) are the other players named in the Best XI.
In a 4-3-3 formation, Kane leads the attack and he is flanked by African duo Boniface and Guirassy.
Bayer Leverkusen won fifteen of the twenty games Boniface participated in this season.
