Official : Germany International Who Rejected Nigeria Joins SV Darmstadt 98 On Loan
Published: January 14, 2017
German Bundesliga side SV Darmstadt 98 have completed the signing of Germany international of Nigerian descent Sidney Sam until the end of the season.
The offensive all-rounder has been farmed out on loan by Schalke 04 due to his lack of first team opportunities, with only one appearance to his name, which came in the Europa League.
A product of Hamburg plus the youth teams of Kilia Kiel and Holstein Kiel, Sam also turned out for FC Kaiserslautern and Bayer Leverkusen before he was snapped up by Schalke 04 in 2014.
The 28-year-old has been handed the number 33 jersey for the remainder of the season.
Kiel-born Sidney Sam was approached by the Nigeria Football Federation to represent the Super Eagles but he finally rejected their advances in 2013.
