Toronto Prospect Akinola Battling Ex-Chelsea Striker's Son For United States Starting Shirt In Panama

Toronto forward Ayomide Akinola is set to display his wares at the 2017 CONCACAF U-17 Championship, starting on Friday in Panama.
The 17-year-old has been named in the United States roster for the competition which doubles as the qualifying tournament for the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
Akinola will battle for a starting spot in attack with five players including Timothy Weah, the son of 1995 FIFA World Player of the Year and ex-Chelsea star George Weah.
The Ontario native represented the United States at U15 level before making the step up to the U17s.
John Hackworth's side will face Jamaica, Mexico and El Salvador in Group C and will qualify for the World Cup in India if they finish among the top two countries in the second group phase.
