Rohr, Super Eagles Faithful Breathe Sigh Of Relief Over Akpeyi Injury, Rested As A Precaution
Published: April 21, 2017
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Daniel Akpeyi has been ruled out of Chippa United's clash with Jomo Cosmos at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium (Port Elizabeth) on Saturday.
Chippa United have decided not to include the Super Eagles goalkeeper on the roster for the Nedbank Cup quarter-final tie only as a precaution, as he is nursing a minor leg injury.
The Chilli Boys medical team informed Akpeyi that he'll recover in time for Tuesday's league match with Maritzburg United.
Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr and Super Eagles fans would have definitely had their hearts in their mouths if Akpeyi's injury was long-term, with Wolverhampton Wanderers keeper Carl Ikeme all but ruled out for the rest of the season due to a hamstring problem.
This season, the ex-Warri Wolves star has posted nine shutouts from 28 appearances in all competitions.
