Ajax Amsterdam Whiz-Kid Opts To Play For The Netherlands Over Nigeria
Published: April 22, 2017
Versatile Ajax Amsterdam winger Niyi Scholten has chosen to represent the Netherlands ahead of Nigeria at international level.
The former FC Twente starlet and his camp are impressed with the way he has been treated by the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) since he started playing for their U15 team.
''Niyi is one of the young Nigerian players at Ajax youth team, he has no plans to represent Nigeria,'' a top source close to Scholten told allnigeriasoccer.com.
''He is happy playing for the Netherlands U15s and hopes to represent the senior team. He has not been contacted by Nigeria because they don't have an U15 team.''
Scholten has been named in Netherlands U15s 40-player provisional roster ahead of their international friendlies against Germany on May 4 and 6.
