Ex-Arsenal Striker, Who Was Approached By NFF President, Makes England Debut
Published: May 29, 2017
Former Arsenal youth-teamer Fejiri Okenabirhie made his international bow for England C Team in their 2-1 victory over Panjab FA at Damson Park, Solihull Moors on Sunday.
Okenabirhie was named in the starting lineup along with ex-Stoke City striker of Nigerian descent James Alabi, who was also making his debut.
While the Dagenham & Redbridge man put in a full shift, Alabi was replaced with 17 minutes left on the clock.
The Chester FC star thought he had won a penalty for England in the 23rd minute but he was booked for simulation, before he provided the assist for the opening goal scored by the Lions in the 34th minute.
Okenabirhie was one of the English-based youngsters approached by NFF President Amaju Pinnick to represent the Super Eagles when he traveled to England in 2015.
The 21-year-old is hoping to earn his second England cap when they face Jersey on May 30.
