Jordan Torunarigha (Hertha Berlin) and Emmanuel Iyoha (Fortuna Düsseldorf) have ended their participation in the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup after Germany lost a seven-goal thriller to African champions Zambia on Wednesday at the Jeju World Cup Stadium.
Philipp Ochs from 1899 Hoffenheim opened the scoring for the Germans some eight minutes before half time with a sublime free-kick that went in off the underside of the crossbar.
Zambia led 3-1 after 85 minutes courtesy of goals from Banda, Sakala and Mwepu, but Germany mounted pressure and were rewarded with two goals which sent the game into extra time.
In the 107th minute, Shemmy Mayembe scored to win the game for the Junior Chipolpolo, who will meet the winner of the round of sixteen clash between Italy and France in the quarterfinal.
Emmanuel Iyoha was substituted in the 81st minute while Torunarigha worked a full shift for the third game in a row.
Central defender Torunarigha looked dejected at the end of the game and had to be consoled by a team official.
