Chelsea's Goal Machine Of Nigerian Parentage Named In England Final Squad For U21 EURO
Published: June 05, 2017
Two players of Nigerian descent will show off at the upcoming UEFA European U21 Championship in Poland, with head coach Aidy Boothroyd naming both talents in his 23-man group for the competition.
Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham and Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Dominic Iorfa have been selected.
The two youngsters were originally part of the 28-man provisional squad and made the final roster after impressing the coaching staff at St. George’s Park during the pre-Euro training camp.
After making appearances for the U18s and U19s, Abraham was promoted to the U21s thanks to his impressive start to the 2016-17 season, while Iorfa has been part of the squad since 2015.
England face Sweden in their opener on June 16, and there's big Nigerian interest in the game with Sunderland wonderkid Joel Asoro expected to feature for the Scandinavians.
