Ojo Gets Rival As Egyptian Messi Completes Move To Liverpool, Breaks African Transfer Fee Record
Published: June 22, 2017
Through their official website, Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Egypt international Mohamed Salah from AS Roma.
The duration and financial terms have not yet been disclosed by Liverpool, but widespread reports in the English press suggest that the Reds will pay the Italian side £39 million.
That figure surpassed the 34 million pounds Liverpool paid to Southampton to sign Sadio Mane in the summer of 2016, meaning Salah is now the most expensive African player in history.
The 'Egyptian Messi', who previously represented Basel, Chelsea and Fiorentina, has been handed the number 11 jersey for the new season.
It is thought that the arrival of Mohamed Salah at Liverpool will hamper the development of England U20 star of Nigerian descent Sheyi Ojo as they are both wingers.
