Nigerian Club Set For Big Pay Day, To Pocket N2.29 Billion From Sale Of Man City's Iheanacho
Published: June 24, 2017
Taye Academy Owerri, the grassroots club that nurtured Kelechi Iheanacho, would be paid billions of Naira if the Nigeria international departs Manchester City before the close of the transfer window, allnigeriasoccer.com understands.
It has been claimed that Taye Academy inserted a sell-on clause worth twenty percent of the transfer fees on any future sale before agreeing to do business with City in 2014.
With Iheanacho valued in the region of £25 million (N11.45 billion), the Owerri-based club will pocket N2.29 billion if he is eventually sold for that amount.
The 20-year-old has proclaimed that he wants to remain at Manchester City and fight for a first-team shirt, but has been advised by his camp to leave the club and join a team where's guaranteed playing opportunities ahead of the 2018 World Cup.
Leicester City are ahead of West Ham in the race for the signature of Iheanacho and would have wrapped up a deal, but a ruling has not yet been made with respect to the identity of his bonafide representative.
