Published: October 23, 2017
Liverpool U23s recorded their seventh victory of the 2017-18 season after beating Manchester United 3-1 in the Premier League 2 at Leigh Sports Village Stadium on Monday night.
Red Devils right back Matthew Olosunde is still on the mend and was not available for selection, Tosin Kehinde played the full game and former Golden Eaglets trainee Ovie Ejaria went the distance for the away team.
Liverpool took the lead after 14 minutes through Ejaria, who slotted the ball home from a difficult angle, before James Wilson equalized just after the hour mark.
The visitors were 3-1 up after 74 minutes courtesy of goals from Marko Grujić and Harry Wilson.
United would have reduced the deficit in the closing minutes but Indy Boonen's brilliant shot rattled the post.
In-form winger Bobby Adekanye, who grabbed the headlines for his brace in the UEFA Youth League last week, came off the bench in the 86th minute.
Next up for Liverpool U23 is a home game against Leicester City on Sunday, while Manchester United face Joel Asoro's Sunderland.
