Liverpool Coach Tells Ejaria The One Area He Still Needs To Improve
Published: October 26, 2017
Liverpool U23 coach Neil Critchley has told England youth-teamer Ovie Ejaria to add goals and assists to his game to stand a chance of achieving his goal of becoming a first-team player.
The former Golden Eaglets trainee has managed only two goals from 21 appearances for the Reds U23 team, and is still searching for his first senior goal after eight appearances.
''Goals is something Ovie wants to add to his game so he has to put his talent into numbers in terms of goals and assists so he makes an impact on the game,'' Critchley told Liverpoolfc.com.
''You know when he is faced with a defender, one-v-one in the penalty area, you sort of feel sorry for the defender because you know there is only going to be one outcome.
''Ovie knows he has got to do a little bit more in terms of his assists and goals because it’s a way of getting noticed and getting yourself into the manager’s thoughts.''
So far this season, Liverpool U23s are the joint-leading scorers in Premier League 2 with 17 goals, and Ejaria's only goal was against Manchester United on Monday.
