Argentina Legend Kempes Criticizes Team Ahead Of Nigeria Friendly: They Are Not Friends
Published: November 13, 2017
Argentina legend Mario Alberto Kempes has criticized the national team ahead of their friendly against Nigeria, saying that there was no bonding in the team.
The retired striker, who defended the colours of Valencia and River Plate, is famous for scoring the winning goal for the Argentinian national team in their 3-1 win over the Netherlands in the final of the 1978 World Cup.
''The friendship that the players of the national team have should be reflected in the field, if they are friends, they should defend the one they have at their side. This team has a lack of camaraderie,'' Kempes told TN Deportivo.
Kempes also took a dig at Maradona, saying : ''Diego knows football the same as me or more, but what is happening in Venezuela is not to write nonsense and even more taking into account where he lives''.
Nigeria will take on Argentina in their last match of 2017 at the Krasnodar Stadium, Krasnodar on Tuesday, November 14, starting from 1730 hours.
The Super Eagles have faced the Argentinians four times in previous World Cups, losing by the odd goal on each occasion.
