Published: November 15, 2017
Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel was pleased with the atmosphere at the Krasnodar Stadium during Nigeria's international friendly with Argentina on Tuesday evening.
More than 24,000 fans watched the friendly between the two Russia-bound teams and were not disappointed, having witnessed a festival of goals as the Super Eagles secured a 4-2 win over the South Americans.
''The atmosphere was wonderful, I was pleased to play in it, I really liked that the fans came to support both teams, I hope we did not disappoint them, '' Mikel told reporters at the post-match press conference, including TASS.
Mikel was at the Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow for the 2008 Champions League final between Chelsea and Manchester United and has said Krasnodar and Moscow fans were passionate.
''The fans at the Champions League final and at today's match were similar in that they were very passionate about supporting the teams,'' Mikel added.
The former Chelsea number twelve, who went the distance against Argentina, made his 80th appearance for the Super Eagles at the Krasnodar Stadium.
