Published: November 19, 2017
Brian Idowu has revealed that his Nigerian father was among the 24,000+ spectators that watched the international friendly between Argentina and Nigeria at the Krasnodar Stadium on Tuesday, November 14.
To prepare him for a possible debut against the South Americans, the Amkar Perm defender watched the highlights of the World Cup qualifier between Algeria and Nigeria on November 10.
''Of course. My father came to this game, we talked with him, he met a lot of familiar people,'' Idowu told the official website of Amkar Perm.
''I certainly did not feel like a stranger. I was very warmly received in the team, there was a very friendly atmosphere.''
Idowu added : ''In fact, I did not watch the qualifying matches for Nigeria. I followed the results, and the games themselves, honestly, did not even know where to find them.
''Only saw the highlights of the last game with Algeria. So I did not put myself in the team.''
Brian Idowu needed only eight minutes to open his Super Eagles account after coming off the bench at half-time.
