(Photo Confirmation) Nigeria Target Kevin Akpoguma Extends Hoffenheim Contract
Published: December 18, 2017
Through a statement on their official webpage, German Bundesliga outfit TSG Hoffenheim have announced that they have extended their cooperation with Germany youth-teamer of Nigerian parentage Kevin Akpoguma.
The new deal inked by the central defender will keep him at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena until at least the end of the 2020-2021 season, if both parties honour the agreement.
The 22-year-old Akpoguma celebrated his Bundesliga debut on October 22, 2017 when he replaced Stefan Posch in Hoffenheim's 1–1 draw with VfL Wolfsburg, and has nine appearances under his belt to date.
''For me, TSG is the perfect club for me to continue to develop and establish myself in the Bundesliga,'' Akpoguma told Hoffenheim's official website.
''I find here an ambitious environment that gives young players the chance to improve and grow. ''
Akpoguma joined Hoffenheim from Karlsruher SC in 2013 and spent the whole of last season on loan at second-tier Fortuna Düsseldorf.
The Nigeria Football Federation and manager Gernot Rohr are hoping to convince him to represent the Super Eagles at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
