Record-Chasing Bartholomew Ogbeche Suffers Another Injury Blow
Published: December 20, 2017
Bartholomew Ogbeche might be set for another spell on the sidelines, two months after returning from a lengthy layoff.
The Nigeria international had to be substituted in the 30th minute due to injury in Willem II's 3-0 win over RKC Waalwijk in the KNVB Beker on Tuesday night, and the initial prognosis was that he picked up a hamstring injury.
''He has hamstring complaints," manager Van de Looi was quoted as saying by omroepbrabant.nl.
"If it is a strain or something more, we still have to look at it, which is difficult to assess right after the match."
Unarguably, Ogbeche has been Willem II's most important player in the last one month, with the 33-year-old accounting for eight of the thirteen goals scored by the Tilburg-based club in the Dutch Eredivisie.
The former PSG wonderkid has tallied 34 goals in the top-flight since his switch to the Netherlands, and needs 17 more goals to surpass ex-Ajax Amsterdam winger Tijani Babangida as the highest-scoring Nigerian in the history of the Dutch Eredivisie.
He is contracted to Willem II until the end of the 2017-2018 season.
