Arsenal Loanee Nwakali Logs Ninety Minutes In Second Debut For MVV Maastricht
Published: January 27, 2018
Kelechi Nwakali has made his second debut for Dutch Eerste Divisie side MVV Maastricht but could not prevent the team from losing 3-1 to De Graafschap on Friday, January 26.
MVV announced the loan signing of the Nigeria youth international from Arsenal on Wednesday and he had a maximum of two training sessions with the club before he stepped out onto the pitch yesterday.
Nwakali logged ninety minutes against De Graafschap and the last time he completed a league game was May 25, 2017 when he played the entirety of MVV's goalless draw vs Roda JC in the play-offs.
The 19-year-old showed flashes of potential in MVVs' loss and was cautioned seven minutes into the second half.
For the remainder of this season, the Golden Ball winner at the 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup will wear the number 40 jersey.
Nwakali's contract with Premier League side Arsenal will run out on June 30, 2021.
