Four Defensive Stats That Show How Good Ola Aina Is As Hull City Thrash QPR
Published: April 07, 2018
Hull City secured an emphatic 4-0 win over Queens Park Rangers on game week 41 in the EFL Championship on Saturday afternoon, with versatile Nigeria international Ola Aina impressing yet again for the Tigers.
Goals from Harry Wilson, Alex Smithies (OG), Kamil Grosicki and Abel Hernandez sealed a comfortable win for Hull Cit at the KCOM Stadium.
Of the 28 players that tasted action, Ola Aina, who was deployed at right back with license to go forward, was second best in the three key defensive statistics combined - total tackles won, interceptions and clearances - and only central defender Michael Hector performed better than the Super Eagle.
According to the stats gurus at OPTA, the Chelsea loanee made a game high four tackles, made two interceptions and racked up five clearances, the second top player of all the players in action in that category.
In another category, Aina was professional in his defensive duties as he did not commit any foul and was not yellow carded over the course of ninety minutes.
The former England U19 skipper recorded his 39th outing for Hull City in the league against Queens Park Rangers.
The 21-year-old has been deployed at right back, left back, right midfield and left midfield positions this season.
