Excellent Iwobi Gets Top Marks As Arsenal Equal 60-Year Record
Published: April 08, 2018
Nigeria winger Alex Iwobi was splendid in Arsenal's hard fought 3-2 win over Southampton at the Emirates Stadium Sunday afternoon and consequently received massive plaudits from the English media.
Iwobi assisted Danny Welbeck's well taken goals on Sunday afternoon and will be boosted by his contributions as the Gunners look forward to Thursday's Europa League game against CSKA Moscow.
The Mirror wrote on Iwobi's rating: "Nervy start but recovered to claim two assists and help set up other.''
"Good performance from the Nigerian, one of his best for months. Played a big part in the first goal and set up the second and third. Unlucky not to score himself with a shot that was saved," Football London stated with an
8/10 for the Nigerian.
Football blog, Bergkampesque.com, went: "Superb all-round performance bythe Nigerian Ninja. Two assist and one pre-assist.
"Great movement and ball control and without the presence of the Nr10 beasts of Ozil, Jack, Mkhi and Rambo, he had a chance to shine. And boy howhe did!!!" They rated him 9.
Sunday's game was the 20th Premier League appearance of the season for the Nigerian in which he has scored twice.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have officially announced that they have scored three or more goals in five successive home games in all competitions for the first time since their opening six matches of the 1958-1959 season.
The Gunners netted three goals each against Watford, AC Milan, Stoke City and Southampton, while CSKA Moscow conceded four times in the Europa League.
