Unfit Everton Loanee Henry Sent To The Stands Again As Moment Of Truth Arrives
Published: May 14, 2018Unfit Everton loanee Henry Onyekuru is losing the race in his bid to make Nigeria's roster for the 2018 World Cup after he was left out of Anderlecht's matchday squad against Gent on Sunday evening.
It has been claimed that the one-cap Nigeria international is being frustrated from featuring for the Super Eagles in Russia as that would brighten his chances of getting a work permit to play for Everton rather than Anderlecht who have offered the striker a contract extension.
Belgian journalist Frédéric De Muynck believes those insinuations are far from the truth and the striker is not at loggerheads with Anderlecht manager, Hein Vanhaezebrouck.
''Henry Onyekuru has no problem with the coach. After the warmup he was sent to the stands, he wasn't on the bench, '' De Muynck told allnigeriasoccer.com.
''He and another guy, Edo Kayembe were told to be in the stands. The coach selects many players and preferred to put Kara Mbodj on the bench.''
Onyekuru has not played competitively for Anderlecht since December 22, 2017 after suffering a serious knee injury, and will have his heart in his mouth for most part of today, with the Nigerian Federation set to announce the Super Eagles provisional World Cup roster.
