According to information gathered by allnigeriasoccer.com, Hapoel Beer Sheva midfielder John Ogu will link up with his international teammates in Uyo on Thursday, May 24.
The Nigerian Federation had instructed the 30 players named in the preliminary World Cup roster to arrive at the Le Meridien Ibom Hotel & Golf Resort in Uyo on Monday, May 21, but the central midfielder could not meet up with the deadline.
Yesterday night, Ogu went the distance for Hapoel Beer Sheva in their 6-1 rout of Maccabi Netanya in their final game of the season.
He is expected to have a minimum of three training sessions with the Super Eagles squad before their friendly against Democratic Republic of Congo on May 28, meaning he is available for selection for the game in Port Harcourt.
John Ogu was one of the first names on manager Barak Bakhar's team-sheet in the just concluded season, making 29 appearances (28 starts) in the league with three goals to his name.
The Flying Sports Academy product will compete with Obi Mikel, Eddy Onazi, Wilfred Ndidi, Mikel Agu, Uche Agbo, Oghenekaro Etebo and Joel Obi for one of the midfield spots at the World Cup training camp.
