Mikel Mentions Two Attributes Of Super Eagles Stars He's Excited About
Published: May 25, 2018Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has given his opinion on the Super Eagles, saying he is excited about the players in squad due to their youthfulness and physicality but stressed that they have to play as a unit if they are to perform well at the World Cup.
Tough games await the Super Eagles in Russia, with matches against two-time world champions Argentina and a Croatia team filled with Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus and Inter Milan stars.
''This team is a very young team, a very energetic team. We have a lot of young players and we are ready to play, we are ready to give everything,'' Mikel told reporters that attended Friday's media parley in Uyo.
“We have to make sure we play together as a team which is the most important thing.
''No individuality among the players, we have to make sure the team and Nigeria comes first and hopefully the sky will be our limit in Russia.''
Ten of the 30 players that made Nigeria's provisional roster are under the age of 23 : Francis Uzoho, Ola Aina, Chidozie Awaziem, Tyronne Ebuehi, Wilfred Ndidi, Uche Agbo, Oghenekaro Etebo, Kelechi Iheanacho, Moses Simon and Alex Iwobi.
Mikel is the most experienced player with more than 80 caps, followed by Ahmed Musa, Elderson Echiejile and Eddy Onazi.
