Tottenham Hotspur Product Obika Opens His 2018-2019 Account For Oxford United
Former Tottenham Hotspur youth-teamer Jonathan Obika opened his account for the 2018-2019 season but could not prevent Oxford United from suffering a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Coventry City in an EFL League One encounter on Sunday afternoon.

Obika was unable to register his name on the score-sheet in league games against Barnsley, Fleetwood, Portsmouth, Accrington St and Sunderland, and EFL Cup games with Coventry and Newport County prior to today's game at the Kassam Stadium.

The Sky Blues were 2-0 up after 81 minutes, an own goal from John Mousinho opened the scoring before Conor Chaplin blasted the ball into the back of the net.

Introduced as a 71st minute, Obika's thumped home a powerful header to reduce the deficit and grabbed his first goal in the league since January 2018 in the process.

Born in Enfield, the striker was on the books of Spurs for eight years and had loan stints at Yeovil Town, Millwall, Crystal Palace, Peterborough United,  Swindon Town,  Charlton Athletic and Brighton & Hove during his time at White Hart Lane.

He was a member of the Young Lions squad at the 2009 FIFA U20 World Cup in Egypt.
