Chippa United GK Akpeyi Lands In Lagos, Stoke City's Etebo Joins Super Eagles Camp Tuesday
Published: November 12, 2018
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Chippa United star Daniel Akpeyi will be amongst the first players to link up with the Nigerian National Team at their get-together in Asaba on Monday, November 12.
The former Warri Wolves goalkeeper flew in to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Sunday and is about now preparing to board another flight taking him to the Delta State capital.
Akpeyi, who captained Chippa United in their last outing in the PSL against Kaizer Chiefs, stands a very good chance of starting in goal against Bafana Bafana on Saturday as Elche's Francis Uzoho has withdrawn from the squad due to injury.
On top of that, the 32-year-old is the most active of the three goalkeepers in the 23-man squad, having started and completed all the ten matches contested by Chippa United in the league this season.
Meanwhile, Stoke City ace Oghenekaro Etebo will be racing against the clock to join the Super Eagles ahead of their first training session on grass.
The versatile midfielder has given his word that he will report for international duty tomorrow, Tuesday.
