Six Nigerian Young Stars Registered By Chelsea For Remainder Of Premier League
Published: February 02, 2019
Six Nigerian youngsters have been registered by Chelsea for the remainder of the Premier League 2018-2019 season.
Victor Moses, Ola Aina, and Kenneth Omeruo have not been handed spots on the roster following their transfers to Fenerbahce, Torino and Leganes respectively.
Assuming they were named in the updated squad, Moses and Ola Aina would have been listed as homegrown players while Omeruo would have taken a non-homegrown player spot, which has never happened before since his move to The Blues in 2012.
The six Nigerian players that fit the requirements of U21 players, that is players born on or after 1 January 1997, are : Jordan Aina, Tammy Abraham, Faustino Adebola Rasheed Anjorin, Fikayo Tomori, Ike Ugbo and Tariq Uwakwe.
Of the aforementioned players, only Jordan Aina, Anjorin, Ugbo and Uwakwe are qualified to represent Chelsea in the Premier League as things stand as Abraham and Tomori have been loaned out to Aston Villa and Derby County for the rest of the campaign.
England U21 stars Abraham and Tomori represented Chelsea in the Premier League at the tail end of the 2015-2016 season.
