Torino To Pay 17 Times Ola Aina's Loan Fee To Sign Chelsea Wing-Back On Permanent Basis
Published: February 27, 2019
The future of Nigeria international Ola Aina has been the subject of speculation in recent days for two reasons.
It has been suggested that the versatile wing-back could return to Chelsea in the summer after Fifa punished the Stamford Bridge outfit with a two-window transfer ban, which was not on the cards a week ago.
But the operation is not straightforward as Torino have a purchase option on the player for ten million euros that could be triggered at the end of the 2018-19 campaign.
According to Football Italia making reference to Tuttosport, Torino and coach Walter Mazzarri have decided to take up the €10m option to buy Aina at the end of the season.
The Italian Serie A club paid Chelsea €600,000 to keep the defender on loan for the entirety of the season, meaning he will cost approximately seventeen times the initial loan fee.
Aina has become an important player for Torino, playing in 22 of their 25 league games to date and helping goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu to post a shutout in each of the last five matches.
