Schalke 04 Eye Summer Move For N6.1B-Rated Liverpool Striker Awoniyi
Published: March 06, 2019Schalke 04 are interested in signing former Nigeria U23 international Taiwo Awoniyi in the summer, according to the Liverpool Echo.
After 24 rounds in the German Bundesliga, Schalke have the fourth weakest attack after scoring only 24 goals and are looking for a new striker to bolster the attack, with Awoniyi a candidate.
The 2013 U17 World Cup winner is in the form of his life at Belgian First Division A team Royal Excel Mouscron, for whom he has scored 6 goals in 7 appearances while providing two assists.
Awoniyi has yet to make his first team debut for Liverpool due to work permit problems and has been shipped out on loan to FSV Frankfurt, NEC Nijmegen and Gent, where he started this season, to continue his development.
The Anfield side are prepared to sell the Nigerian but will only consider bids in the region of 15 million euros (approximately N6.1 billion in Nigerian currency), and there is also a possibility of another loan move.
Last summer, the 21-year-old penned a multi-year deal with the Reds before heading to Belgium on loan.
