Norwich City Striker Who Scored 11 Goals In One Game Available For Nigeria U17 Selection
Published: April 29, 2019
The Golden Eaglets had a goalscoring crisis at the recently concluded U17 Africa Cup of Nations in Tanzania, with the Manu Garba-led side netting only three goals in their last four games, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Furthermore, the Nigeria U17s created 73 chances in the group stage but could only convert seven of them.
Ahead of the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup, the coaches should consider inviting Norwich City prodigy Ruben Shakpoke to strengthen the squad.
The highly-rated teenager has banged in goals with reckless abandon this season with the highlight of his performance being the eleven goals he scored in one game against Watford U15s.
The English Football Association has identified Shakpoke as one of the most talented players in his age group and invited him for the friendly against Belgium in February 2019, handing him the number nine jersey.
He has the same playing style as Belgium youth international of Nigerian descent, Tyrese Omotoye but he is more deadly in front of goal.
Although Shakpoke is presently committed to the Young Lions, he might have a change of heart if approached by the Nigerian Federation.
