Manchester United Seem To Have Confirmed The Signing Of Nigeria-Eligible Whizkid
Published: July 13, 2019
Premier League giants Manchester United seem to have confirmed the signing of Nigeria-eligible wonderkid Dillon Hoogewerf from Dutch champions Ajax Amsterdam.
The Red Devils have published on their official website a behind-the-scenes video of United's U18 and U23 squads at their training camp in Austria and Hoogewerf was among the players spotted working out with the squad (check 00:51 and 01.39 in video).
The Old Trafford outfit have not yet announced their first-year scholars for the 2019-2020 season, however, it is a foregone conclusion that Hoogewerf is one of the new intake of Academy scholars.
Ahead of the start of the upcoming season, the 16-year-old and other Academy stars trained at Sportschule in Lindabrunn, close to Vienna, and will fly back to England on Saturday to continue their pre-season preparations.
History-maker Shola Shortire, the youngest player to feature in the UEFA Youth League, was part of the traveling party to Austria which suggests that he may be of use to United in the U18 Premier League despite being a schoolboy.
Another Nigeria-eligible youngster Deji Sotona has been fully promoted to the U18s after signing scholarship forms while Mipo Odubeko is moving onto pastures new.
