RB Salzburg Next Big Thing, Adeyemi Makes Liverpool Regret Not Signing Him After UYL Display
Published: October 02, 2019Red-hot Red Bull Salzburg striker Karim Adeyemi got on the scoresheet as the Austrian side lost 4-2 to Liverpool on match day two in the UEFA Youth League on Wednesday afternoon.
Prior to the meeting against Liverpool U19s, Adeyemi had tallied 6 goals in nine appearances with four assists to his name.
The Munich-born youngster was heavily linked with a move to Liverpool and was courted by Manchester City and Chelsea in 2018 but Red Bull Salzburg surprisingly won the race to sign the highly-rated striker.
Liverpool's Yasser Larouci broke the deadlock after five minutes but Adeyemi punished the Reds for poor defending when he restored parity in the 21st minute.
In the second half, David Affengruber's strike was cancelled out by Neco Williams before Curtis Jones and Rhian Brewster scored to secure three points for the home team.
Adeyemi has been named in the latest Germany U18 squad for a training camp in Krefeld next week (October 6-8).
