Nigerian Federation Yet To Make A Move For Highly-Rated Switzerland U19 Captain
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that the Nigeria Football Federation are yet to make a move for highly-rated FC Zurich defensive midfielder Simon Sohm.

The Swiss Football Association have taken the first steps to cap-tie the 2001-born player, handing him caps at U15, U16, U17, U18 and U19 levels.

Born in Zurich, Sohm captained Switzerland in the U19 EURO qualifiers against Ireland and Austria in November, and also wore the captain's armband in a friendly against Italy three months ago.

He became provisionally cap-tied to the Swiss when he started from the off against Northern Ireland in an U17 EURO qualifier in October 2017, and captained the U15-U18 teams before earning a promotion to the U19s a year ago.

Sohm became the first 2001-born player to debut in the Swiss Super League, aged 17 years, 6 months and 17 days when he replaced Adrian Winter in a 3-2 loss to FC St. Gallen on Oct 28, 2018.

He could follow in the footsteps of Noah Okafor, Manuel Akanji and Innocent Emeghara and pledge his international future to Switzerland if he is not approached by the Nigerian Federation.

Including two matches in the Europa League, Sohm has played 27 games as a professional for FC Zurich, scoring one goal.
