Emmanuel Dennis Injury: Ex-Sheffield Wednesday Striker Advises Club Brugge Coach To Start Okereke
Published: March 02, 2020
Former Sheffield Wednesday striker Marc Degryse has advised Club Brugge coach Philippe Clement to consider reinstating Nigeria U23 international David Okereke to the starting line-up in the wake of the injury suffered by Emmanuel Dennis, who faces up to one month on the sidelines.
One of the untouchables in Club Brugge's starting line-up at the start of the season, Okereke has played a bit part role since December, starting only one of the last ten league matches.
Against Racing Genk on Sunday, South Africa star Percy Tau and Charles De Ketelaere got the nod to lead the attack, leaving Okereke on the bench before he was introduced in the 83rd minute.
Degryse thinks Schrijvers and Okereke are the best two strikers to use in the absence of Emmanuel Dennis.
"Dennis is normally in it, but he has now been out for a few weeks. Then I would look for another duo. Siebe Schrijvers stands out very well. They now have to give him a chance for a few weeks," Degryse told Play Sports according to voetbalbelgie.
He added : "They have been searching all year round, but I think Okereke is definitely worth a starting place."
Club Brugge's record buy, Okereke has notched up 11 goals in all competitions this term and has two assists to his name.
