Nigerian Federation Target Zirkzee On The Radar Of Barcelona Legend Ronald Koeman
Published: March 10, 2020Nigerian Federation target Joshua Zirkzee is undoubtedly on the radar of Barcelona legend Ronald Koeman who now coaches the Netherlands senior team, according to Dutch football magazine Voetbal International.
With Robert Lewandowski ruled out of action until the end of March due to a fractured tibia, Zirkzee has been acting as cover for the injured Polish striker, starting the last two Bundesliga matches against TSG Hoffenheim and FC Augsburg.
Netherlands coach Koeman has a big decision to make on whether he selects Zirkzee on his roster for the friendlies against United States (March 26) and Spain (March 29).
Although the two matches are non-binding, the Royal Dutch Football Association will take a big step towards potentially cap-tying the 18-year-old striker.
Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr is also on Zirkzee's case, having scouted the former Feyenoord youth-teamer ten days ago when he netted on his full Bundesliga debut vs Hoffenheim.
Presently a Netherlands U19 international, he has scored 8 goals in nine appearances for the age group.
