'Thing Of Beauty' - Manchester United, Barcelona Legends Hail Ighalo After Brilliant Goal
Published: March 12, 2020
Manchester United are well placed to qualify for the last eight of the UEFA Europa League following their 5-0 rout of Austrian side LASK at the Linzer Stadion (Linz) on Thursday evening.
Making his third start for the Red Devils since his transfer in January, Odion Ighalo got them on their way with a brilliant goal in the 28th minute.
The former Nigeria international controlled the ball three times, before firing home a spectacular effort in off the underside of the bar from just inside the area and provided an assist for the second goal scored by United.
Daniel James, Juan Mata, Mason Greenwood and Andreas Pereira, with the icing on the cake, were all on target in the second half to give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side a comfortable advantage heading into the second leg at Old Trafford.
Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand and Barcelona legend Gary Lineker took to social media to praise Ighalo for his special goal against LASK.
Lineker re-tweeted a post from Football on BT Sport and commented : "Here it is. Thing of beauty".
Ferdinand said on Twitter : " He’s at it again".
Ighalo's other strikes for Manchester United came in matches against Club Brugge (Europa League) and Derby County (FA Cup).
