Josh Maja Emerges As Rangers Transfer Target To Replace Newcastle, Leicester-Linked Striker
Published: April 07, 2020
Less than two years after joining Bordeaux, Nigeria international Josh Maja could be returning to the United Kingdom if the latest transfer speculations are anything to go by.
According to Goal.com, Maja is among five players targeted by Scottish Premiership side Rangers to replace prolific striker Alfredo Morelos , who is on the wishlist of clubs in England including Newcastle United, Leicester City, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa.
Liverpool's Rhian Brewster, Dundee United's Lawrence Shankland, Sint-Truiden's Mohamed Buya Turay and Clermont's Adrian Grbic are also being considered in the event of the departure of Morenos in the summer transfer window.
Maja's agent, Emeka Obasi has close links with Rangers higher-ups, having brokered the deals that took Sheyi Ojo and Joe Aribo to the Light Blues last summer, and also represents ex-Golden Eaglets invitee Malcolm Ebiowei who plays for the youth team of the Scottish giants.
Despite his limited playing opportunities this season, Maja has been involved in 11 goals (8 goals, 3 assists) from 24 games across all competitions.
The former Sunderland man has a contract with Bordeaux until the end of the 2022-2023 season.
