Published: April 15, 2020Former Chelsea assistant coach of Nigerian descent, Eddie Newton has recommended the signing of Conor Gallagher to Trabzonspor.
According to several press reports in Turkey including Fotomac, the Anglo-Nigerian coach has convinced Trabzonspor chiefs to make a move for Chelsea-owned youngster Gallagher after sending glowing reports on the defensive midfielder.
Trabzonspor are believed to be in the market for a defensive midfielder ahead of the opening of the transfer market following the departure of Nigeria legend Obi Mikel from the club last month.
An England U21 international, Gallagher spent the first half of the season on loan at Charlton Athletic, before joining Swansea City in January.
Apart from Mikel, former Chelsea stars in Marko Marin, Jose Bosingwa and Florent Malouda previously wore the colours of Trabzonspor.
Experienced Nigerian winger Anthony Nwakame has caught the eye for Trabzonspor this season, scoring 10 goals and setting up nine others in 24 appearances for the Super Lig table-toppers.
