Saka Features As Arsenal Suffer Shock Loss To Brentford In Friendly
Published: June 10, 2020
Arsenal stepped up their preparations for the restart of the English Premier League with a friendly against Championship side Brentford at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
To honour the memory of George Floyd, the Gunners first team stars gathered near the halfway line to take a knee before the start of the contest.
During the warm-up, Hale End Academy product Bukayo Saka was spotted wearing a shirt that read, 'My Skin Is Not A Crime'.
The match which was held behind closed doors ended 3-2 in favour of the Bees, with the Anglo-Nigerian winger getting game time and playing with the number 77 kit.
Mikel Arteta's team took the lead in the first half scoring through Joe Willock but the Championship side bounced back in the second half, with Tariqe Fosu, Halil Dervisoglu and Shandon Baptiste finding the net, the Mirror UK reported.
Frenchman Alexandre Lacazette netted in the second stanza to make the scoreline more respectable.
It is expected that the Premier League will resume on June 17, with Arsenal traveling to the Etihad Stadium to take on Manchester City.
Saka has played 29 matches for Arsenal's first team this season, with 18 in the Premier League.
