19 And Counting : Crotone's Simy On The Cusp Of Equaling Personal Record For Goals In A Single Season
Nigeria international Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo is on the cusp of equaling his personal record for goals in a single season, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

By finding the net in Crotone's victory against  Pordenone Calcio on Monday, he took his tally for the season to 19 goals in all competitions - 18 in the Serie B and the other in the Coppa Italia.

Simy achieved his personal record which stands at 20 goals in a single season on May 14, 2016 when he got on the scoresheet against  SC Farense in his final game as a Gil Vicente player.

Against Pordenone Calcio, the lanky striker netted the game-winning goal in the 45th minute, heading home a delivery from Salvatore Molina.

His earliest goal this season arrived in the 7th minute against Arezzo in the Coppa Italia and his latest was scored in the 94th minute in a 1-0 win vs AC Pisa on matchday 27.

With Crotone still having four more games to play in the Serie B, Simy stands a good chance of setting a new personal record for goals scored in a single season.

In the race for the top scorer award in the Italian second-tier, the Super Eagle is level on 18 goals with Perugia's Pietro Iemmello.
