Nigeria-Eligible Midfielder Named In Bayern's Matchday Squad Vs Ex-Club Chelsea; Zirkzee Snubbed
Published: August 08, 2020
Teenage Nigeria-eligible midfielder Jamal Musiala is in contention to make his Champions League debut for Bayern Munich in a round of 16, second leg clash against Chelsea at the Football Arena Munich this evening, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Bayern Munich coach Hans-Dieter Flick has picked two Chelsea Academy products in his matchday 23 - Musiala and another 2003-born player in Bright Arrey-Mbi.
The two exciting teenagers who have both represented England and Germany youth teams start on the bench for the Bavarians.
Musiala has been training with Bayern's first team since they resumed preparations for the Champions League knockout rounds following the conclusion of the 2019-2020 season.
Apart from training with the first team, there was a strong hint that he was in the frame to face his old club after his name was added to Bayern Munich's Champions League roster, List A.
Musiala will be wearing the number 42 on the back of his jersey if he's handed a run-out against his former employers.
Nigeria Football Federation target Joshua Zirkzee has been left out of the Bayern squad against Chelsea, which is not surprising considering the fact that his name was erased from the List A.
