Stoke City Weighing Up Move For Champions League, Europa League Winner Mikel
Published: August 10, 2020
Chelsea legend John Obi Mikel could be returning to the Championship a year after his departure from Middlesbrough, with speculation linking him with a summer move to Stoke City.
StokeonTrentLive says Mikel is in the frame as the Potters weigh up a move for a holding midfielder.
The experienced midfielder is currently a free agent after mutually terminating his contract with Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor over coronavirus concerns back in March.
And since then Mikel has been linked with possible moves to Brazilian clubs Sport Club Internacional and Botafogo, Italian Serie A new boys Benevento, and West Brom.
The 33-year-old has an impressive curriculum vitae, winning the Champions League, Europa League, Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and Community Shield during his time with Chelsea.
This isn't the first time Stoke City have been linked with Mikel as five years ago they were credited with an interest when they were a Premier League team.
