Published: August 30, 2020
Promising box-to-box midfielder Tim Akinola has been allocated a shirt number at Premier League side Arsenal.
Allnigeriasoccer.com can confirm a report first broken by Arsenal youth-team guru Jeorge Bird that the Nigerian-born wonderkid will be wearing the number 61 for the 2020-2021 season.
Akinola has appended his signature to a two-year deal with the Gunners after passing up the opportunity to extend his contract with Huddersfield Town.
The 2001-born player will represent Arsenal U23s in the upcoming season but there's talk that he can make his first team debut pretty quick if he performs excellently for the youth teams.
He is in contention to make his competitive debut for Arsenal development team when they take on Ipswich Town in the EFL Trophy a week on Tuesday.
Akinola is age-eligible to play for the Flying Eagles at the 2021 FIFA U20 World Cup and has made himself available for selection, and he's also on the radar of the English Football Association following his celebrated move to the Gunners.
