Chelsea-Owned Midfielder Uwakwe Makes It 4 Goals In 2 Games After Scoring On League One Debut For The Reds
Published: September 12, 2020Chelsea loanee Tariq Uwakwe has made a flying start to his Accrington Stanley career, registering his fourth goal in two matches as the Reds recorded a 2-0 win against Peterborough United on the opening day of the League One season, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The versatile midfielder scored his first career hat-trick as the Reds demolished Leeds United U21s in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday, September 8 and proved his performance was no fluke by netting against one of the clubs tipped for promotion on his league debut today.
Uwakwe almost bagged an assist just past the half-hour mark as he sent a cross into the box but Dion Charles saw his shot dealt comfortably by goalkeeper Pym.
With the score 1-0 in favour of Accrington Stanley, Uwakwe scored an insurance goal in the 85th minute, curling a brilliant effort past the goalkeeper from just outside the box.
Just as in his first game, the Anglo-Nigerian put in a ninety-minute shift against Peterborough United.
Up next for Uwakwe and his teammates, they travel to the Pirelli Stadium in Staffordshire, where they face Burton Albion on match day two.
