'Thankfully They All Count' - Leicester's Iheanacho Admits Being Lucky With His Two Goals
Published: November 06, 2020
Kelechi Iheanacho has acknowledged that he was lucky to score two goals for Leicester City in their 4-0 hammering of Sporting Braga in a Europa League match on Thursday night.
The Foxes were 1-0 up at the break thanks to their Nigeria international who slotted coolly into the net, his initial effort was saved by Matheus but the ball bounced back into his path.
And there was also a touch of good fortune in his second goal three minutes into the second half as his shot deflected past the unfortunate Sporting Braga goalkeeper.
"It was a good win for us. We did well, scored some good goals and deserved to win in the end," Iheanacho said to UEFA's official website.
"The first goal came from a rebound and I was maybe a little bit lucky with the second too. Thankfully they all count! I’m happy to score again.
"We’re in a great position in the group. We still have a long way to go, but it’s about keeping going, taking it game by game and let’s see."
Iheanacho was officially named Man of the Match after helping Leicester City secure their biggest all-time win in a European competition.
