Chelsea Loanee Ugbo Hits Double Figures In Goals With Brace Vs Charleroi
Published: December 16, 2020
Chelsea loanee Ike Ugbo has taken his tally for the season to ten goals from fifteen appearances for Cercle Brugge after netting a first half brace in their 4-3 loss to Sporting Charleroi in the Belgian First Division A on Tuesday evening.
It comes on the heels of the former England U17 international pledging his international future to Nigeria over the Three Lions and world champions France.
Considering his form in Belgium, Ugbo stands a good chance of earning a call up to the Super Eagles in future if his paperwork is completed.
The Anglo-Nigerian showed his worth when he fired home from close range to open the scoring in the 17th minute and slotted into an empty goal to make it 2-0 following a goalkeeping error from Descamps in the 25th minute.
In the second half he came close to bagging a hat-trick but saw his header miss the target.
With his brace against Sporting Charleroi, Ugbo has accounted for exactly forty percent of the goals scored by Cercle Brugge in the league this season.
Only three players namely Racing Genk's Paul Onuachu (14), OH Leuven's Thomas Henry (13) and Beerschot's Raphael Holzhauser (11) have scored more than Ugbo in the Belgian top division this term.
