Barcelona Legend Reacts As Iheanacho Delivers Knockout Blow For Leicester In Win Vs Brighton
Published: February 10, 2021
Leicester City are through to the quarterfinals of the Emirates FA Cup after beating Brighton & Hove 1-0 at the King Power Stadium on Wednesday night.
Wilfred Ndidi, who missed the last three matches due to a hamstring complaint, was welcomed back into the starting lineup and Kelechi Iheanacho was brought on in the 62nd minute to replace top scorer Jamie Vardy.
The game looked destined for extra-time but the Foxes netted the game-winning goal in dramatic fashion, Iheanacho the scorer in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
Tielemans crossed for Iheanacho and the Nigeria international nodded it home in the very last minute of added time to send Brendan Rodgers' side into the last eight.
Barcelona and Leicester City legend Gary Lineker immediately took to Twitter to react to the goal scored by the Foxes number 14.
Lineker said : " Yessss @67Kelechi. A last second winner. @LCFC have never won the FA Cup... could this possibly be the year?"
Following his strike tonight, Iheanacho has contributed to eight goals (5 goals, 3 assists) in all competitions so far this season.
Statistically, the FA Cup is Iheanacho's favourite competition in terms of goals scored since he turned professional with a goal every 83 minutes.
