Chelsea loanee Ike Ugbo has received praise from the Belgian media following his brilliant performance for Cercle Brugge in their 2-1 win against Royal Excel Mouscron this past weekend.
The Super Eagles hopeful gave Cercle Brugge the lead in the 13th minute when he headed home a rebound after goalkeeper Koffi did not clear a corner kick properly and Bates headed the ball off the crossbar.
Ugbo was named man of the match by Sporza, a multimedia brand of Belgian radio and television network VRT specifically for coverage of sporting events.
"Ugbo was decisive in the first half. The striker easily headed the lead on the scoreboard. Not much later he was able to make his 2nd, but the goalkeeper did not cooperate," they wrote.
The 22-year-old has tallied 12 goals in 26 appearances in the Belgian First Division A, a huge number when you consider that Cercle Brugge are battling with relegation.
Ugbo's thirteen goals in all competitions is a joint-personal best for goals in a single-season.
