5ft 8in tall ex-Eagles assistant captain Onazi celebrates first headed goal of his career in Lithuania
Published: May 01, 2021
It has taken former Super Eagles assistant captain Eddy Onazi ten games in all competitions to open his goalscoring account for Lithuanian champions Žalgiris Vilnius.
The Lazio youth team product was among the scorers as Žalgiris Vilnius thrashed Dainava Alytus 5-1 in a gameweek 11 A Lyga clash staged at the Alytaus miesto stadionas on Friday, April 30.
Onazi started the match brightly, coming close to opening the scoring with a shot from inside the area after the goalkeeper mishandled the ball in the second minute.
At minute fifteen, the Nigeria international broke the deadlock when he powered home a header.
The 5ft 8in midfielder took to Instagram after the game to reveal that it was the first headed goal of his professional career.
A member of the Super Eagles squad to the 2014 and 2018 World Cups, Onazi wore the colours of Lazio, Trabzonspor, Denizlispor and SönderjyskE prior to his switch to Žalgiris Vilnius in February 2021.
His other goal involvement for Zalgiris Vilnius was his assist against Riteriai in March.
